CAPTION: Shaw_AFB---Class 61-4:
"I went thru the RF-101 Voodoo check out with Dick [Richarg W. Musgrove] at Shaw in summer of 1961---and give you a photo of the Class. It was the Class 61-4 and started on 12 June and finished on 1 Sept 1961. Two of us went to PACAF, Norm Huggins (45 TRS-Missawa) and myself to Okinawa. I think all the others went to USAFE except for John Turner. John was the RAF enchange officer and was there to replace Nigel Walpol. Back Row:
Rollin Ratchen, Scotty Scott, Dick Musgrove, John Turner Front Row:
Vic Vickery, Burt Waltz, Norm Huggins, Len Kresheck We were all strangers at Shaw except for Norm and myself. We both had been F-86D instructors at Moody.
We all got to know and like each other while learning to fly the "longbird" and had a great 3 months at Shaw. Strange that both Norm and I were shot down in SEA but we both were lucky enough to survive." -- Burt Waltz
